A product launch is a big deal to those who developed the product. The hard part is sharing that urgency and making the launch resonate with clients and prospects outside the company.

We spent years developing our flagship product, and as we prepared for a major launch into a new market, we knew we needed more than a standard press release. We needed an announcement that would tell our story with a big splash.

We are Incentiv, the talent platform built to help investors and talent leaders of private equity and PE-backed businesses attract, motivate, and retain top executive talent. As Incentiv’s CEO and co-founder, I’m always thinking about how to make our message land well enough to generate buzz among customers, win over partners, and energize our internal team.

One of the best ways to do that is through powerful storytelling, and our new product launch was the perfect opportunity to craft a compelling story and reimagine its delivery.

Crafting a clear, compelling story without the clichés

We knew the biggest challenge would be explaining something so feature-rich in a way that was simple, clear, and engaging. We wanted to avoid the overdone “cartoon-style” explainer videos, instead opting for a modern and fresh aesthetic that would better reflect our brand.

The video needed to cut through complexity without cutting corners — something with pizzazz that contained a lot of information while being easy to follow. It was also important for us to find a creative partner who could make the process smooth and efficient for me and our design team. That’s exactly what Product Hype delivered.

A perfect first take turns interest into excitement

Product Hype impressed us from the start. The team set clear outlines and expectations for the required background information, turnaround times, and the feedback process, which gave us more time to focus on the product itself. They made the entire process incredibly easy for us.

The only hiccup was our tight timeline. The product launched in a month, and we weren’t sure if that would be enough time to create a polished product. Our Product Hype video does my job for me. Rather than me performing a live demo or trying to explain something in detail through email, I just drop in a quick link to the video and let it speak for itself.

That ease of use has saved us a massive amount of time and resources — easily 3–5x more cost-effective than producing the video in-house. Within the first hour of sharing the video with our customer channels, we had more than 100 views. More than half of our existing customers have expanded their business with us, at least in part because the video created additional hype and energy around our additional services.

We originally set out to get prospective customers excited. We did that, and also found an unexpected and rewarding outcome from the internal response. We played the video during an all-hands meeting, and it became a true hype moment. Everyone left more motivated to share the product with customers and proud to be a part of our team.
